Chia Gaming is a set of primitives including state channels, game hosts, game trackers, and specialized APIs that, when used together, enable peer-to-peer, interoperable gameplay. These primitives allow developers to create games with instant, off-chain interaction and secure, on-chain settlement. We believe we can empower the next generation of games where players own their assets, and where developers can innovate without being locked into a single platform.

Ecosystems and Interoperability
Unlike traditional gaming platforms that lock users into a specific store or launcher, Chia Gaming is built on a “mix-and-match” philosophy. The ecosystem relies on two primary types of participants:
- Game Hosts: Where players interact with the games themselves.
- Trackers: Where players find games and opponents.
Because these tools use standardized APIs, any game app can work with any tracker. If two different apps support the same shared game, they can talk to each other seamlessly. This removes the “silo” effect common in modern gaming and ensures that the ecosystem belongs to the players and creators, not a single entity.
This work serves as a rejection of the “single vendor” control model. The ecosystem flourishes on a consensus-driven process where multiple partners contribute to, and maintain, the standards for interoperability.
“The vision for Chia Gaming is of it being an ecosystem involving multiple, possibly many vendors interacting via open source protocols. This is an open source process with interoperability being funded by the people benefiting from the interoperability. The idea is that any game app can work with any tracker, any two game apps can talk to each other as long as they play shared games.”

We’re building a “common language” for gaming. Much like how anyone can build a client for email or BitTorrent, anyone can build a part of the Chia Gaming landscape, contributing to a consensus-driven standard that benefits all participants.
Sustainable Business
Vendors will have several clear paths to monetization without compromising the open-source nature of the code including:
- Direct Access: Subscriptions or pay-per-use for advanced metrics and training.
- Safety Tools: Services for “outside assistance detection” to ensure fair play.
- Partnerships: Traditional advertising and strategic brand alignments.
High Performance with Low Overhead
The Chia Gaming primitives move blockchain into the background. By executing the majority of game logic through off-chain state channels, the system allows for real-time interaction without continuous “on-chain” transactions.
“The technical load on Chia gaming infrastructure is very low due to it being super-optimized for keeping the load on-chain down.”
– Bram Cohen
This architectural choice keeps the network agile and the barrier to entry low for both players and developers. It is this specific focus on technical leanness that allows the ecosystem to scale rapidly.
What’s Next?
Chia Network is providing the resources, support, and funding necessary to get partners fully operational through the Chia Gaming RFP which recently published the questions submitted by prospective partners and the corresponding answers here Chia Gaming RFP Q&A. Rather than relying on a single vendor, the process will remain open-source and consensus-driven. Become a partner in the Chia Gaming ecosystem.
