When we first launched the Chia Cloud Wallet (Early Access), our goal was simple: to make self-custody accessible, secure, and easy for everyone. Since then, the community has embraced it; creating vaults, managing assets and NFTs, and discovering just how easy self-custody can be.
Today, we’re excited to announce that the Chia Cloud Wallet is moving out of Early Access and into General Release; bringing new features, improved usability, and an important step toward a complete self-custody solution.
Why This Release Matters
Self-custody has long been a pillar of our vision, and we believe it shouldn’t come at the cost of complexity. The Chia Cloud Wallet bridges that gap, giving users the power of on-chain ownership with the simplicity of a modern app experience.
This release builds on our vision. With the introduction of Buy XCH, users can now acquire XCH directly from their Cloud Wallet account safely, seamlessly, and without relying on exchanges or third parties. It’s a major step toward making the Chia Cloud Wallet a complete, easy-to-use self-custody solution.
Buy XCH
The headline feature of this release is Buy XCH via ACH bank transfer. For the first time, users with a United States bank account can purchase XCH directly; no exchanges, no complex transfers, and no extra steps.
Here’s how it works:
- Choose how much you want to spend.
- Connect your bank account securely within the Cloud Wallet.
- Finalize your purchase and view the pending transaction in your vault.
- Receive your XCH automatically once your payment settles.
To ensure a smooth rollout and protect everyone’s funds, purchases currently have a minimum purchase amount of $25 USD and a daily maximum of $100 USD. These limits help us maintain stability and reliability as we scale up the service during a period of high demand. We plan to raise these limits as the program matures.
This release removes one of the biggest points of friction in self-custody; acquiring your first coins. Now, users can move from setup to owning XCH quickly and securely, all within the Cloud Wallet.
Support for additional payment methods and regions is already in progress, with more options beyond ACH coming soon.
What else?
This release also introduces several new tools designed to give users more visibility, efficiency, and control within their vaults:
- Coin Management – View, split, and combine the individual coins in your vault to keep it tidy and transactions efficient. You can also “sweep” small coins (or dust) into larger ones with ease.
- Offer Coin Reservation – When creating an offer, you can now opt to split out properly sized coins for the offer. This prevents larger coins from being locked while the offer is active.
- Bug Reporting – Submit feedback directly from within the app to report issues, share ideas, or suggest improvements, helping us make the Cloud Wallet even better.
A Growing Foundation for Self-Custody
The Cloud Wallet offers a strong suite of tools that make self-custody approachable:
- Vaults for secure key and fund management.
- Recovery to update your keys with ease.
- Chia iOS Signer for safe and secure transaction signing.
- Offers to create and take on-chain trades with confidence.
- NFT support for collecting and managing digital assets.
- CAT support for sending, receiving, managing and tracking tokens.
Together, these features make the Cloud Wallet one of the most complete self-custody experiences available today, and this release moves it firmly out of “early access” and into the hands of everyone.
What’s Next
The next major milestone will be multi-signature vaults, enabling shared and secure asset management across teams, families, and organizations. This will add another layer of flexibility and resilience to how users manage their on-chain assets–and we’re already working on it.
Multi-sig will be part of the upcoming Chia Cloud Wallet Pro plan, which introduces a suite of advanced features for power users and organizations who want to take their on-chain management to the next level:
- Multi-sig Vaults – Create vaults that require approval from multiple signers before transactions are completed, adding an extra layer of protection and accountability.
- Clawback 2.0 – A refined version of the clawback feature that gives senders more control, including the ability to finalize transactions early.
- NFT Minting – Create and issue NFTs directly from your Cloud Wallet vault.
- Bulk Payments – Streamline high-volume payments by batching multiple transactions into one simple process.
- Token Minting & Melting – Issue new tokens or retire existing ones with simple, on-chain controls.
- Token Tracking – Monitor and manage token supply and ownership with clear, transparent insights.
- Third-Party Recovery – Designate trusted recovery providers who can help restore access to your vaults if you lose your keys.
- Broadcast Messages – Broadcast on-chain communications directly to your token holders.
All these capabilities are designed to make the Cloud Wallet Pro plan a self-custody toolkit for both individuals and organizations.
For all users on the Free plan, we have several improvements on the way:
- A revised Create Vault page with a smoother, more intuitive setup flow.
- The ability to sign recovery transactions using the Chia Signer.
- A new Notification Centre to keep track of key activity and updates.
- Chia Signer for Android, bringing mobile signing to even more users.
- The ability to import an existing vault into the Cloud Wallet.
These updates will continue to build on our work to make secure, self-custodied blockchain management both powerful and easy to use for everyone.
Beyond that, we’re continuing to improve performance, enhance user experience, and expand regional availability for Buy XCH.
